Insight

Running can get boring. It’s the same loop,
same playlist, same scenery.
We challenged people to not just try a
different route, but a whole
different ecosystem.

Spartan is known to be a gritty, challenging
obstacle course race that pushes
individuals outside of their comfort zones.
For Spartan’s new trail running series,
Spartan Trail, we needed to change this
tone in order to target ultra marathon
runners, and runners who want a
change from the routine.


Idea

We set out to create and promote a
Spartan branded Trail Run series that
appealed to runners desire to get
outside, experience nature, and push
themselves beyond the typical run path.

The campaign, which spanned across
Spartan web, email, digital, field, organic,
broadcast and social channels established
Spartan as a credible new trail racing
series, leveraging Trail Run influencers and
building on the existing Spartan
community, brand and event experience.

Impact

Launching Spring 2019, the campaign
made an immediate impact to site traffic,
ticket sales and credibility and was even
featured in an exclusive story in
Trail Runner Magazine.
